Railway-ready 300W converters hit 85% efficiency at full load

Absopulse has announced a line of DC/DC converters in the BHT-31R-F4 series that provides 300W of continuous power over a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C without derating. Geared for harsh railway and industrial environments, the convection-cooled devices offer typical efficiency of 85% at full load, depending on input/output combination, and achieve an MTBF of 240,000 hours at 45°C.

With an expected operating life is a minimum of 30 years, the converters meet the requirements of EN50155 for electronic equipment used on railway rolling stock. These units operate from an input voltage of 72V (43V to 101V), 96V (58V to 135V), and 110V (66V to 154V). Industrial-grade converters accept inputs of 24V, 48V, 110V and 125V. Both the railway and industrial converters furnish a 24V, 48V, 72V, 125V, or custom output voltage.

Protection features include overvoltage, overload, and short circuit, as well as thermal shutdown with automatic recovery and input-to-output isolation of 3kVDC. In addition, the devices withstand shock and vibration. Converter dimensions are 130mm x 64mm x 353mm.
