Powerbox has announced a line-up of DC/DC converters that offers 150W of output power with typical efficiency of 93 per cent for demanding railway applications. The dual-output units in the ENAR150D series are housed in slim 18.5mm-wide packages, allowing their use in tight, limited environments, stated the company.

The ENAR150D series operates from inputs of 24VDC (16.8VDC to 30VDC) or 110VDC (77VDC to 137.5VDC) and provides two independent, isolated outputs of 12VDC, 24VDC, or 48VDC. Outputs can be combined in four different modes, independent, parallel, serial and symmetrical, to accommodate application requirements.

If additional power is required, the ENAR150D series can be connected in parallel using passive current sharing without any external components. The converters operate over a temperature range of -40°C to 70°C. Under Class T2, the full rated power of 150W is furnished up to 55°C. With limited additional cooling, full power can be maintained up to 70°C.

Able to meet the high-reliability requirements of the railway industry, the ENAR150D series achieves an MTBF of 500,000 hours at 45°C ambient. Converters provide a minimum technical lifetime of 15 years at 45°C and 80 per cent load. Input-to-output isolation is 21kVAC; output-to-case is 1kVAC; and output-one-to-output-two is 500VDC.
