When Intel revealed its 6th generation core processors at the Gamecon Congress 2015 (Aug. 5-9, Cologne, Germany), it secretly left out some details about how the vPro on-chip hardware can do wonders to businesses. Of the half dozen additional hardware capabilities in 6th Gen vPro cores, the more important are Authenticate and Unite, both of which use on-chip hardware Intel claimed is unhackable to verify the identity of users and to allow them to project their screens onto any wireless display (WiDi) in the world, respectively.

Intel announced the 6th generation core processors at the Gamecon Congress 2015 (Aug. 5-9, Cologne, Germany) but left out the new hardware it had secretly installed to make business users secure with hardware authentication and 'united' by a common way of using conference room displays wirelessly. "The 6th generation vPro Cores are transforming the workplace into a more productive, more secure, more collaborative experience for business users than ever before," said Intel Business Client GM Tom Garrison. "Enterprises are now allowing users to choose their devices, from Windows to Apple's iOS, and we are lowering the price of transforming the workplace to accommodate them, in fact at Intel itself we dropped our workplace cost per user from $250 before transformation to $150 afterwards."

Intel now supports three-ways for 6th Gen vPro Core users to "dock" with their business network, WiDi for which they claim 300 design wins, WiGig for which they claim twice as many 6th generation design wins, or the wired Thunderbolt dock with also charges the laptop as well as offers 40Gbit speeds. Intel claims that its 6th generation cores are giving 2.5-fold performance improvements, three-times the battery life and 30-times faster graphics performance (over five-year old laptops that it claims some businesses are still using), plus its offering Xeon-calibre performance for mobile users. But the "Rolls Royce" of their announcement is Intel's authentication hardware.
