STMicroelectronics has introduced what it describes as a highly integrated low-pass filter aimed to suppress EMI noise in automotive applications employing BroadR-Reach interfaces. The EMIF02-01OABRY includes 15kV ISO 10605 surge protection and is AEC-Q101 qualified.

Until now, designers have used discrete components to design EMI filters that are compatible with the BroadR-Reach specification. Because there may be a large dispersion between components, these discrete networks' performance must be fine- tuned at significant time and cost.

The EMIF02-01OABRY solves this issue by providing an application-validated integrated solution, making the end applications smaller and faster to design. Within the Automotive temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, the EMI filter attenuation profile is fully compliant with BroadR-Reach requirements, with a return loss of -20dB at 60MHz and component matching of one per cent between line 1 and 2.

The filter is compliant with the IEC 61000-4-2, ISO 10605, and ISO 7637-3 automotive standards; and is offered in compact 3mm x 3mm wettable-flank QFN package, facilitating optical inspection of the solder joints.

Samples of the EMIF02-01OABRY are available at a price of $0.48 in quantities of 1000 units.
