OmniVision Technologies Inc. has uncloaked a sensor geared for next-generation security and surveillance systems. The 1/2.6in CameraChip sensor uses OmniVision's 1.4µm OmniBSI-2 pixel architecture to deliver best-in-class low-light performance and ultra-high definition 4K output, indicated the company.

The device also boasts features that enable advanced surveillance functions such as automatic tracking and detection, high quality digital zoom and video analytics.

The OV10823 is a native 16:9 CameraChip sensor that can support ultra-high resolution 4K video at 30fps with electronic image stabilization (EIS), or binned 1080p high definition (HD) video at 60fps. The sensor's 4K resolution and 1.4µm pixels, when paired with fisheye lenses, make it suited for IP cameras and commercial surveillance systems that focus on high resolution and wide-area coverage.

The OV10823 offers a zero-degree chief ray angle (CRA) and is available in a chip-scale package (CSP). The sensor is in volume production.
