Wireless charging platform supports Qi, PMA, Rezence

Semtech Corp. has introduced its TS80K wireless charging design platform that includes the TS80000 transmitter, the TS81000 receiver, a complete set of power management ICs (PMICs) and reference design kits. Promising to deliver scalable power, flexible design capability and supports evolving industry standards, the solution is aimed at the rising need for wireless charging in the consumer, mobile, industrial and embedded solution markets, noted the company.

The TS80K wireless charging platform supports all three major wireless charging standards: Qi, PMA and A4WP Rezence, in multi-mode for both transmitter and receiver applications. It is geared to be flexible, making it easy to implement quickly in different configurations and form factors, as well as support evolving wireless charging standards, SemTech said. It is scalable to power low, medium and high power applications from 100mW to 100W and beyond for industrial tools, medical equipment and connected furniture applications, the company added.

TS80K

The platform features multi-mode receiver solutions ranging from 100mW to >20W of output power that allows compatibility between all transmitters supporting any of the three industry standards. Multi-mode transmitter solutions are available for all power levels, from 100mW to >40W, allowing embedded charging capability in furniture, vehicles and public venues that can support all three standards.

The TS80K platform is shipping in production, and includes the transmitter (TS80000) and receiver (TS81000) controllers and supporting power management devices (TS61001, TS31023 and TS30011). The TS80000 is available for $3.10 per 1,000 units. Design kits, including evaluation boards and documentation are also available.
