Richardson touts couplers for aerospace, defence from Anaren

Richardson RFPD Inc. has revealed a line-up of Xinger couplers from Anaren, as well as the associated full design support capabilities. Offering a wide bandwidth range, high isolation/directivity, low insertion loss and ENIG plating finish, these high-reliability hybrid and directional couplers are intended for aerospace and defence applications where size, weight and power (SWAP) are essential.

The devices have been subjected to rigorous qualification testing and are manufactured using materials that are CTE-compatible (coefficients of thermal expansion) with common substrates such as FR4, G-10, RF-35, RO4350 and polyimide.

"Due to the widespread adoption of GaN-based RF power transistors and ICs, with their higher power density, efficiency and wider bandwidth, passive components haven't scaled as quickly," said Mark Vitellaro, director of strategic marketing for Richardson RFPD. "These new aerospace and defence couplers from Anaren bring high performance with miniaturised footprints that really enable system size reductions. Anaren has leveraged its 20 years of surface mount softboard technology experience to develop these innovative hybrid and directional couplers for S-band applications."
