Microsemi has rolled out what it boasts as its highest capacity SLC-based secure solid state drive (SSD) aimed at mission critical applications. According to the company, the device is geared for defence, intelligence and other sectors requiring the highest level of security and reliability.

The SATA device is also configured for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and other defence-related network area storage (NAS) applications. As increased use of high resolution sensors is changing the way data is stored, higher density SSDs are needed. Microsemi is addressing this market need in a 63.5mm, 9.5mm form factor.

The MSD01TBAM2R TRRUST-STOR 1TB SSD is designed and built for extreme reliability and data security applications. The device's reliability is enhanced with long life single-level cell (SLC) flash and advanced error correction code, stated the company. By using Microsemi's Armor memory processor technology the company also enables long-term availability.

The TRRUST-STOR self-encrypting drive (SED) promises to offer powerful and flexible key management methods and advanced security features. For sensitive applications, the encryption key can be erased in less than 30ms, and a second security layer can be activated to erase the entire storage media in less than 10s, rendering data forensically unrecoverable.
