Swedish company Comsol Inc. recently rolled out its Multiphysics software ver. 5.1, an integrated simulation environment for building multiphysics models and for creating and sharing easy-to-use simulation apps.

Founded in 1986, Comsol Group is a provider of software solutions for multiphysics modelling. The company released the first version of its Multiphysics software in 1998, and from there, Comsol's product line expanded to include a suite of discipline specific add-on modules for structural mechanics, high and low frequency electromagnetics, heat transfer, MEMS and acoustics among others.

The software version 5.1, according to the company, will allow you to combine model set-up with application design from within a single interface. Major upgrades to its Application Builder include full integration between the Model Builder and Application Builder, improved layout tools for app design and LiveLink for Excel capabilities in applications. You can also run applications on multiple computers using the Comsol Server.

Easy model-to-app flow

In Multiphysics 5.1, the Model Builder and Application Builder have been merged to create an interactive environment. While building an app, you can switch between the Model Builder and Application Builder and make simultaneous updates to both the model and the app.

"The Application Builder is the only application design environment where the user can create multiphysics apps not only within a single software environment, but within a single window using the same file format," said Bjorn Sjodin, VP of Product Management.
