Amphenol India supplies mil-spec heavy duty power connectors

Amphenol Aerospace has qualified Amphenol India as a second manufacturing source for its MIL-DTL-22992 Class L connectors. According to the company, the second manufacturing source gives Amphenol an additional cost-effective way to supply their mil-spec qualified heavy duty power connectors to the military ground and support equipment markets.

Amphenol Aerospace's Class L heavy-duty connectors include features that are critical to reliable interconnections in rugged environmental conditions. Class L connectors are able to carry heavy electrical loads with a current range from 40A to 200A for either direct current or single/three phase with 60/400Hz alternating current. The connectors are resistant to the harsh operating environments of heat, moisture, vibration, high impact and immersion, detailed the company.

MIL-DTL-22992 Class L connector

The Amphenol Class L 22992 heavy duty connectors are the largest size cylindricals, stated the company. They are available only in the specific configurations prescribed by MIL-DTL-22992 for either military or industrial applications. This rigid configuration control assures correct interconnection of electrical circuits for maximum safety and reliability.

Controlled parameters include: the connector shell style and contact type, in which wall-mount and cable-connecting receptacles are supplied with socket contacts only, and always lead from the power source. Plugs (with coupling rings) have pin contacts only, and always lead to the equipment end. In addition, the direct relationship of shell size to current carrying capability reduces the possibility of inadequate wiring for heavy electrical loads, indicated Amphenol.
