Analytics platform supports large IoT data analysis

ParStream has introduced an analytics platform purpose-built to handle the volumes and velocity of Internet of Things (IoT) data. The solution also boasts the added capability to conduct edge analytics through an innovative Geo-Distributed Analytics (GDA) feature, stated the IoT analytics company.
The company claims GDA delivers a faster, more economical and secure way to analyse large volumes of data streaming from geographically disperse sources, such as cell phone towers, manufacturing operations, wind parks, oil rigs and supply chains.
It can be installed at or close to the source of data, eliminating the need for a massive and expensive central database, which enables faster queries and real-time answers, noted ParStream.
Queries are executed centrally after which ParStream's GDA transparently breaks up the query, sends them to the relevant remote servers, collects and delivers the results back to the application. What's more, it lowers operational costs of data transfer and preserves network bandwidth for other purposes.
The company also announced a dedicated fog computing gateway it calls EdgeAnalyticsBox, in the form of a ruggedised appliance designed for edge analytics, pre-loaded with ParStream's GDA software. But customers can also use their own hardware to implement ParStream's edge analytics solution, including on small, standard-based servers or embedded in existing appliances already installed locally.
