Power amp supports 29-31GHz frequency for satellite comms
Keywords:MACOM power amplifier satellite Ka-band
M/A-COM Technology Solutions (MACOM) has released a power amplifier that operates over a frequency range of 29-31GHz. According to the company, the MAAP-011139 delivers a linear gain of 24dB, saturated output power of 4W and efficiency of 23 per cent when biased at 6V for Ka-band high-data-density satellite communications.
The device promises to offer greater than 27dBm/tone output power, while maintaining third-order intermodulation (IM3) levels of -30dBc, which the manufacturer revealed is twice the linear performance of competing alternatives. This allows designers to replace two equivalent alternative devices with a single MAAP-011139.
The four-stage power amplifier is fabricated using a GaAs pHEMT process that features full passivation for enhanced reliability. It is offered in both bare die format and in 32-lead QFN packages. In bare die format, the part is just 3.1 x 2.8 x 0.05mm, conserving PCB real estate in space-constrained applications. The optional 32-lead QFN package is 5 x 5mm.
Production quantities and samples of the MAAP-011139 are available from stock.
