Oscilloscopes aimed at universities, training institutions

Rohde & Schwarz has released an addition to its RTM portfolio that is intended for the educational sector. The 200MHz instrument boasts a training mode that disables specific measurement automation functions to enable students to investigate results on their own and learn to handle the more basic measurement functions.
Upon the push of a button certain analysis functions such as Autoset, QuickMeas or automated measurements are blocked to achieve a greater learning and training effect. The mode can be protected with a password and is available for other RTM product family members as well.
Beyond the training mode, the RTM 200MHz oscilloscope also targets general-purpose measurement tasks in R&D, manufacturing and maintenance. For bandwidth options offered by RTM-B200 through B202, all 200MHz models can be expanded according to future requirements. Bandwidth can be extended up to 500MHz even after being delivered to the customer. The devices also has an option that turns the scope into a digital voltmeter to measure dimensions such as AC and DC voltage, peak voltage or Crest factor at triple-digit accuracy. This option also contains a seven-digit frequency counter.
With a sampling rate of 5Gsps and a standard memory depth of 20Msps, the RTM claims to offer the best feature set in this instrument category, noted R&S. Additional options to extend the functionality are available. For instance, a variety of options for triggering and decoding of serial buses is available. The History and Segmented Memory option RTM-K15 offers a segmented memory at a depth of 460Msps, useful for the gapless analysis of data sequences with long quiet period, for instance pulsed signals or data packets on serial buses. The power analysis option K31 enables users to automatically determine the quality of switched power supplies.
The latest RTM models with a bandwidth of 200MHz and either two or four channels as well as the optional K32 digital volt meter are available.
