DC-DC converters target IGBT and MOSFET gate drives

Murata Manufacturing has boosted its power solutions line with two configurable output voltage, high isolation DC-DC converters. The MGJ3 and MGJ6 series are 3W and 6W surface mounted devices geared for high-side and low-side gate drivers in IGBT and MOSFET bridge circuit designs. They can be applied in motor drives, traction control drives and wind turbine generators.
According to the company, these converters provide triple output voltages of 15VDC, 5VDC and -5VDC, and yield optimum switching of IGBT drives for system efficiency. In addition, the outputs are configurable to suit a number of different circuit requirements such as 15VDC and -5VDC or 20VDC and -5VDC.
Both the MGJ3 and MGJ6 converters are available with a choice of input voltages around nominal 5VDC, 12VDC or 24VDC inputs. The input ranges are 4.5VDC to 9VDC (5VDC nominal), 9VDC to 18VDC (12VDC nominal) and 18VDC to 36VDC (24VDC nominal).
The MGJ3 measures 23.11mm x 22.61mm x14.65mm and the MGJ6 is 31.24mm x 22.61mm x 14.65mm. Both series can operate over the temperature range from -40°C to 105°C. Short circuit and overload protection features claim to ensure a robust operation during system fault conditions. Other control inputs include a disable pin that facilitates power saving and a frequency synchronisation input that aids EMC filter design.
Lead-time is from stock to 10 weeks. Pricing in OEM quantities is US$11.20 for the MGJ3 and US$14.70 for the MGJ6.
