HAMEG Instruments, a subsidiary of Rohde & Schwarz, has unleashed the R&S HMO1002 series mixed signal oscilloscope that boasts fanless operation, 1MPts of memory depth and a 1GS/s real time sampling rate. According to the company, the device supports 50-70MHz bandwidth, all the way up to 100MHz, by means of a simple upgrade option.
Offering mixed signal functionality, the R&S HMO1002 can simultaneously measure analogue and digital signals. The fanless design of the R&S HMO1002 is another special feature that ensures quiet operation and makes the instrument less susceptible to faults, noted the company. The oscilloscopes antiglare display takes up about 40 per cent of the front-panel area. A logic probe can also be connected to the front panel, added HAMEG.
An integrated pattern generator enables professional embedded developers to program protocol messages at up to 50Mb/s. This makes it possible, for example, to emulate circuit components that are still under development. 2Kb are available per channel for the signal patterns generated. The 4bit counter output (adjustable up to 25MHz) allows developers to use the pattern generator as a clock source. The instrument's high signal update rate of up to 10,000wfs/s makes it possible to measure signal deviations with utmost precision. Its mask based pass/fail tests are other features appealing to developers, detailed the company.
The three-digit digital voltmeter integrated into the R&S HMO1002 makes it possible to perform voltage measurements simultaneously on both analogue channels, with two user-definable parameters each. The digital component tester helps service technicians check the functionality of capacitors, coils and semiconductor elements quickly and easily, described HAMEG.
Teaching staff in the education sector will find the education mode in the R&S HMO1002 especially attractive. All of the fully automatic analysis tools that measure up to 28 parameters of a signal (QuickView, auto set, auto measurement) are switched off in this mode. Those who want to circumvent this function will not get far. The autoanalysis functions can be briefly switched on. However, the result memory clears each time screenshots are made in an effort to record them, leaving correctly implemented manual measurements as the only method of gaining access to screenshots. Correctly measured screenshots are also labelled, making them clearly recognizable as such to teaching staff.
The R&S HMO1002 mixed signal oscilloscopes expand the Value Instruments product range, a shared portfolio of high quality, attractively priced, universal T&M equipment from Rohde & Schwarz and its subsidiary HAMEG, stated the company.
