R&S to cease using HAMEG name
Keywords:Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscope HAMEG
Rohde & Schwarz (R&S), the parent company of oscilloscope maker HAMEG, will no longer be using the HAMEG name. Consequently, all HAMEG oscilloscopes will bear the R&S name only.
HAMEG-made instruments had been carrying both company names but now that R&S has established itself as a major player in the oscilloscope market, the company has decided to drop the HAMEG name. R&S acquired HAMEG in 2005.
The HAMEG operations will continue to operate as HAMEG Instruments GmbH, a subsidiary of R&S. Its products will be marketed as the value line of R&S. According to a press release, "Using the Rohde & Schwarz logo is also the logical continuation of the value instruments initiative, where the two companies' portfolios of reliable precision instruments in the entry-level price segment are marketed together under the Value Instruments label."
The first product made by HAMEG to carry the R&S name only is the R&S HMO1002 digital oscilloscope, which comes in 50MHz, 70MHz and 100MHz models. Sample rate is 1GSPS with 1Msample waveform memory.
