Rohde & Schwarz released a compliance software option for its R&S RTO oscilloscope at the Automotive Testing Expo in Stuttgart this week. The software updates the device with support for testing of BroadR-Reach Ethernet interfaces, which is a cost-effective solution for high-speed data transfer in vehicles.

BroadR Reach technology has been a boon for the automotive industry, in which Ethernet technologies has been explored for years. This technology makes it possible to combine multiple applications such as video streaming from rear view cameras and signal transmission from automotive radar systems to create a single, open and scalable Ethernet network inside the vehicle.

The oscilloscope boasts an outstanding dynamic range of more than seven effective bits (ENOB). The signal quality of the BroadR-Reach Ethernet interfaces can be verified using output drop tests, for example, allowing engineers to test the signal characteristics of the BroadR-Reach telegram.

The software includes image-based instructions, which provide step-by-step support during measurements. While configurations are created automatically and results are documented in a straightforward test report, the company provides a manual that can be downloaded from their website.
