Analog Devices has commenced the third edition of its biennial design fellowship programme geared towards building system level engineering expertise among the local student community. Anveshan 2014 provides a platform for engineering students to showcase their skills in systems design.

Mentored students will develop prototypes under the guidance of industry experts. Selected projects will undergo standard industry design cycle for nine months, with regular architecture reviews, component selection reviews, interim deadlines and finally a complete presentation and demonstration. Problem areas will be identified and addressed in such segments as infotainment, home security, surveillance, machine vision, automotive systems, navigation, robotics, green energy & harvesting solutions, Internet of Things, consumer gadgets and healthcare.

Analog Devices India will fund the project development and provide support through evaluation kits, emulators, components and software development tools to shortlisted teams. ADI's online technical support community at its 'Engineers Zone' will back the students as well. Three of the best projects will be awarded cash prizes. The winning teams from Anveshan 2012 developed a number of innovative concepts such as a low-cost portable health monitor, brain controlled bionic ear and a sensor-based solution to help the blind.

"This fellowship has been engineered to serve as a platform to help connect the students with the experienced industry hands and give them a practical exposure. We hope the mentorship and guidance will help the students think beyond the box and come out with path breaking innovations while enhancing their system design knowhow," ADI India Managing Director Somshubhro Pal Choudhury said.

All local engineering institutions can participate in Anveshan 2014 by registering at Deadline for registration is May 1 while final date for proposal submission is May 31. Shortlisted proposals will be announced by August 1.
