Jungo Connectivity Ltd has revealed that its MediaCore version 4.5 can now be found on the DRA74x "Jacinto 6" platform from Texas Instruments (TI), which the company describes the most recent generation of TI's OMAP, a SoC intended for multimedia applications running in automobiles. The porting of MediaCore 4.5 to "Jacinto 6" allows the companies to benefit from future opportunities in the in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) market, added the firm.

The MediaCore 4.5 from Jungo Connectivity claims to be the most advanced MediaCore release from Jungo to date. It supports playback and distribution of media in the car and provides connectivity to all the different smartphones and protocols needed for an enhanced IVI multimedia experience.

MediaCore 4.5 includes support for complete audio/video/photo playback and distribution in the vehicle, on both the infotainment center stack as well as on rear seat entertainment (RSE) units and brought-in devices such as smartphones and tablets.

Jungo has optimized MediaCore 4.5 to support hardware accelerated capabilities offered by the "Jacinto 6" SoC such as HD video playback. In addition, MediaCore 4.5 brings with it dedicated support for the latest technologies introduced in devices from Apple and Google, along with proprietary smartphone SDKs for advanced, non-standard, capabilities.

A number of automotive customers have selected the Jungo MediaCore solution on TI platforms.
