Mouser Electronics announced that it is now offering high-performance solid state drives (SSDs) from Intel that boast of increased reliability and lower operating costs over conventional hard drives.

According to Intel, its SSDs are 50 per cent faster, 60 per cent more durable and use 20 per cent less power compared to conventional computer hard drives. The 530 Series SSDs target consumer desktops and laptops, provide a small form factor, low cost of operation and low idle power. These SSDs continue to evolve as new consumer platforms emerge, not just for traditional desktops and laptops but also for Ultrabooks, tablets and tomorrow's small form factor mobile systems.

Intel's DC S3500 Series are the next generation of SSDs, targeting data centers and combining consistently fast read/write performance with the strong data protection of leading edge 20nm Flash memory technology. These SSDs process data at a rapid pace, with consistently low latencies and high data throughput, added the firm.

All of Intel's Solid State Drive have a 6Gb/s SATA interface and are totally silent in operation while offering advanced protection from impact and vibration. 256bit hardware encryption secures sensitive data. SSD drive capacities of up to 800GB are available.
