Intel Capital invests in 16 tech companies

Intel's global investment arm Intel Capital has announced Rs.408.81 crore ($65 million) in investments across 16 technology companies including two from India, Perpetuuiti Technosoft and Savaari Car Rentals. Out of 16, seven companies are from Asia.

Spanning nine countries, the new investments will help drive innovations in the cloud, datacenter, mobile technologies and consumer-related services, said the company.

The new investments are part of Intel Capital's mission of cultivating global innovation by providing entrepreneurs with the resources necessary to scale from start-up to global corporation.

In India, Intel Capital invested in Perpetuuiti Technosoft which offers real-time visibility and availability management of business continuity planning/disaster recovery (BCP/DR) infrastructure and online car rental company Savaari Car Rentals.

"We are also excited to announce new investments in these 16 innovative companies and look forward to supporting them with our unmatched company-building programmes like the Intel Capital Global Summit."

Intel Capital made their first investment in India in 1998 and has invested over Rs.2,075.47 crore ($330 million) in more than 90 technology companies across 10 cities till date. In December 2005 Intel Capital launched the "Intel Capital India Technology Fund" worth Rs.1,572.33 crore ($250 million). Out of this approximately 80 per cent has been deployed with over 40 Indian technology companies receiving investments. More than 20 companies Intel has invested in India have gone public till date.
