Asus, one of the first manufacturers to release a Windows RT tablet, plans to stop making the Windows RT ARM-based devices. It's another blow to Microsoft and their plans with ARM processors.

Citing weak sales, the Taiwanese personal computer maker Asustek Computer Inc. said it will no longer make Windows RT tablets, which run a version of Microsoft's Windows 8 for ARM chips, reported Wall Street Journal.

"It's not only our opinion, the industry sentiment is also that Windows RT has not been successful," Asustek Chief Executive Jerry Shen told The Wall Street Journal.

The company said it will instead focus on Windows 8 devices that run Intel chips, which offers wider backwards compatibility than Windows RT devices.

The Asus move doesn't come as a huge surprise, as few months back, there were reports that said most OEMs had already stopped developing RT products.
