Elatec RFID Systems launches a USB developer kit for the Mifare NFC Mini Reader.

The development platform is expected to speed and simplify the integration of the RFID reader and writer by OEM's and system integrators into proprietary applications. It supports FTDI drivers for Windows, Linux and Mac, Windows CE .NET and Android. The delivery scope includes a quick start guide, USB cable, software package and two Mifare cards.

The Mifare NFC Mini Reader measures 33mm x 30mm with an integrated 13.56MHz high frequency antenna. The device, which the company describes as low cost, operates from -25°C to 80°C and is suited for mobile and industrial applications

It also requires minimal disc space and lower power, so it can be integrated directly on a PCB of a machine or mobile computer. The module features four user-configurable inputs or outputs. Likewise, it includes a SAM connection (secure access module), which allows the reader to be used in security and cryptography applications. Communication takes place via a serial TTL or SPI interface. The module supports transponders according to ISO 14443A (the entire Mifare product range including Classic, DESFire EV1, Plus, Ultralight, etc.), ISO 14443B and ISO 18092 (NFC).
