SBC enables graphics for intelligent automation

AAEON Electronics unveils the GENE-HD05 SubCompact Single Board Computer (SBC) that are built with AMD G-Series dual/single core T56N/T40E/T40R processors and the AMD A50M controller hub. The SBC is said to deliver graphics performance and hardware acceleration at relatively low power.

It is targeted at high quality video monitoring and control in Intelligent Automation Systems, or powering advanced Interactive Multi-Screen POS and Kiosks for retail and hospitality markets.

The SBC supports DirectX 11, OpenGL 4.0 and OpenCL 1.1 for 3D visual effects and dynamic interactivity. It offers a wide range of memory and interfaces, including one DDR3 1066 SODIMM (1333 for the T56N version) up to a maximum of 4GB of memory, and features one VGA, one HDMI, one 18/24/36/48bit dual-channel LVDS, 2-channel High Definition Audio, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, two SATA 3.0Gb/s, one CFast, eight USB2.0, four COMs, one Parallel port, one programmable 8bit Digital I/O, on-board 4/5-wire Resistive Touch Screen controller, on-board SIM card slot, and optional on-board Trusted Platform Module. It also has a full size Mini Card slot that can be configured through BIOS settings to support either mSATA for storage/OS or Mini PCI Express expansion modules.

AAEON Hi-Safe is a free hardware-based program geared towards SDKs for user interfaces (UIs) running Microsoft Windows OS. It provides an easy way to develop the end user's own UI software to monitor vital system information such as those for the processor, RAM and VGA. It monitors received data from the Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage, offers configuration options for Digital I/O pin direction and data, provides watchdog timer and fan speed settings, SMBus base address detection and device ID settings, optional monitoring of UPS data information and offers two modes for backlight display control if one uses the LVDS interface. Based on the user interface SDK, no coding is needed and customers can create their own customised UI by downloading the function codes provided by AAEON.
