mSATA mini SSD halves storage size

Apacer Technology Inc. introduces the mSATA Mini M4 SSD that measures 26.8mm × 29.85mm, or half the size of other storage devices that are compliant with JEDEC MO-300 standard. It is said to anti-shock, anti-vibration and low power consumption, making it suited for use in military devices, medical equipment, on-board navigation systems, tablet computers and other portable equipment.

The storage device features a 52-pin gold finger mSATA connector capable of supporting SATA 3Gbps transmission interface, and uses a single-level cell flash memory to guarantee the durability of the product. It delivers sequential read/write speed up to 85/80MB/s and is available in capacities from 2GB to 32GB for use as the system disc. Also, the device offers up to 64GB capacity, facilitating data backup.

The device also touts Global Wear Leveling, S.M.A.R.T technologies, 16bit or 24bit Error Correcting Code and intelligent power failure recovery.

The mSATA Mini M4 , together with the mSATA Mini M4-M, operate from -40°C to 85°C. The devices are already being mass produced, and are available for sampling.
