Thick film chip resistor achieves low heat rise

Stackpole's RHC2512 is a 2W thick film chip resistor which utilises special materials, design, and processing touting low heat rise compared to other high power chip resistors.

The RHC2512 has a hot spot temperature of just under 120°C at 2W where most 2512 size chip resistors may reach that temperature at only 1W of applied power, said the company.

This extremely low heat rise is said to be outstanding for any power supply or power control application where board temperatures must be kept low. Other applications include robotics, motor controls, audio and HD video, fire safety and surveillance equipment, and test equipment.

Pricing for the RHC2512 varies with resistance value and tolerance and ranges from Rs.10.33 ($0.19) to Rs.17.39 ($0.32) each in full reel quantities.
