Vishay Intertechnology Inc. debuts a new series of radial-leaded, positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors. Devices in the new TFPTL series feature nickel thin film elements with positive temperature coefficients of +4,110ppm/K, response time of <2s, and stability over the -55°C to +150°C temperature range.

 PTC thermistors

Available in two sizes with lead pitches of 2.5mm and 5mm, the thermistors offer designers a wide variety of standard resistance values at +25°C(R25) from 100Ω to 5kΩ, and tolerances of 1 per cent and 5 per cent. Non-standard resistance values and tolerances are available on request.

With long-term stability of typically less than 0.1 per cent drift and high-temperature performance, devices in the TFPTL series can be used for temperature measurement, sensing, compensation, and control in industrial and consumer applications. In addition, they can replace silicon-based temperature sensors. Typical end products include heating/cooling systems, motor drives, fan controls, power supplies, and consumer goods.

The TFPTL series thermistors are UL-recognised for the United States and Canada, and they consist of a thin film ceramic chip with two tinned, copper-clad steel wire leads. The devices are compliant to RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, in accordance to WEEE 2002/96/EC, and epoxy-coated per UL 94 V-0.

Samples and production quantities of the PTC thermistors are available now, with lead times of 10 weeks for larger orders.
