Mini voltage suppressors protect car electronics
Keywords:transient voltage suppressors automotive
The AEC-Q101 certified devices are tested and certified using ISO 7637 specifications for electrical transients and ISO 10605 specifications for ESD strike and have a full Automotive-Grade Approval Certificate (AGAC). This saves designers researching for equivalence between industrial and automotive standards, and then re-certifying each new sub-system design independently. Hence new innovations are able to reach the market quickly and cost efficiently.
The Transil protection devices are housed in miniature surface-mount power packages occupying from 12.8mm2 to 46mm2 of pc-board space, capable of handling from 400W to 3,000W of power contained in pulses and ESD transients present on the vehicle wiring.
All the devices are available in unidirectional or bidirectional configuration. The 400W SM4TY and 600W SMA6TY come in 2.55mm x 5.05mm SMA packages. The 600W SM6TY comes in a 3.6mm x 5.35mm SMB package. And the 1,500W SM15TY and 3,000W SM30TY come in 5.9mm x 7.95mm SMC package.
The devices are in mass production now at prices ranging from Rs.6.45 ($0.118) to Rs.28.85 ($0.528) for unidirectional devices or Rs.7.05 ($0.129) to Rs.30.49 ($0.558) for bidirectional devices. Alternative pricing options for large quantities may be available on request.
