BiTMICRO, a manufacturer of enterprise solid-state drives (SSDs), has obtained over 600 intellectual properties from QualCore, an IP and application-specific integrated circuit (ASIC) design services company.

BiTMICRO said it will use this IP in its next-generation MaxIO SSDs, which debuts for first customer shipment this summer.

QualCore's portfolio covers analogue, digital, and mixed-signal integrated circuit design. BiTMICRO will integrate these technologies into their Talino and ISIP chips, which are the backbone of the SuperScalar architecture of MaxIO.

The acquisition also brings BiTMicro closer to its goal of bringing the entire development cycle in-house, from ASIC design to characterisation testing.

Engineers retained from QualCore's IP and ASIC services team has joined the recently established BiTMICRO India, which serves as a research & development centre for ASIC technology.

"As we move into enterprise storage, we need to design faster and smarter. The combination of our engineering capabilities and QualCore's mixed-signal expertise allows us to make better products more quickly and at a lower cost. We'll be able to pass that savings onto our customers."
