Printed electronics to grow 29.4% by 2016

Keywords:Printed  electronics  market report indicates that the global market for printed electronics totalled almost Rs.13,775.51 crore ($2.7 billion) in 2010, nearly Rs.17,857.14 crore ($3.5 billion) in 2011. The market is forecast to be more than Rs.64,285.71 crore ($12.6 billion) in 2016 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 29.4 per cent over the next five years.

According to the report, optoelectronics applications dominate the market, with a share between 62 per cent and 65 per cent in 2010 and 2011, respectively; and this share is expected to increase to more than 70 per cent by 2016. The segment was valued at Rs.8,163.27 crore ($1.6 billion) in 2010 and Rs.11,734.69 crore ($2.3 billion) in 2011, and is expected to reach Rs.45,408.16 crore ($8.9 billion) by 2016, a CAGR of 31.6 per cent.

The energy segment was nearly Rs.2,113.78 crore ($414.3 million) in 2010 and grew to Rs.2,678.57 crore ($525 million) by 2011. The segment will further increase to Rs.7,653.06 crore ($1.5 billion) by 2016, a CAGR of 22.8 per cent over the next five years, states the report.
