Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2012 opened with a bang, starting with CES Unveiled last Sunday, January 8, playing host to several innovations from companies. Here are some attention-grabbing gadgets that we found interesting.


SolarKindle leather lighted cover for Kindle 4.

SolarKindle, the first cover of its kind, acts as an external battery that charges up the Kindle on the go through solar power. Along with the cover that has an integrated solar panel and battery, the SolarKindle also as a Lux LED lamp for reading the Kindle in the dark. On full charge, the lamp is said to last for 50 hours without having to depend on Kindle's battery at all. It is priced at Rs.4,081.12 ($79.99).

At this year's CES, Ultrabooks seem to be king, with each manufacturer having one. The one that stood out—Lenovos' IdeaPad Yoga—a Windows 8-powered Ultrabook that transforms into a 13inch tablet.

Lenovos' IdeaPad Yoga is a Windows 8 Ultrabook/tablet hybrid.

With a 1600x900 touchscreen display, Intel Core i3 to i7 processors, USB 3.0 ports, full-size HDMI output, an SD card port and up to 256GBs of SSD storage, the IdeaPad Yoga is 16.9mm thick and weighs just 1.4kg (3.1 pounds), making it extremely portable. The most exciting feature is its screen that can be rotated backward to be completely flush with the rear panel, effectively turning it into a Windows 8 tablet.
