Wi2Wi Inc. reveals the W2CBW0015, a 9.5 x 9.5 x 1.3mm SiP that features 802.11b/g/n-WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0.

The W2CBW0015 claims to be the first to feature WiFi-Direct certification for low-power embedded wireless applications that deliver high-performance, robust, secure and seamless connectivity targeted at enterprise, industrial, smart meter, smart home and government applications.

The device includes WiFi-802.11n support up to 150Mbit/s over the air with 40MHz channels, Bluetooth 3.0 support up to 24Mbit/s over the air, WiFi-Direct and Mobile Embedded Hotspot (MEH).

WiFi Direct eliminates the need for a traditional hot spot in many situations, establishing instead a high-performance, direct peer-to-peer network. It is capable of supporting enterprise and industrial users of handheld devices including real-time content sharing, direct printing from handhelds and distributing video from a handheld to a large screen or monitor. Data transmissions are protected by WPA2-certified security protocols, featuring encryption algorithms considered fully secure.

Wi2Wi's W2CBW0015 integrates a power amplifier, switch, voltage regulator, EEPROM and crystal. The product supports all major processor families in the enterprise and industrial OEM markets. The device will also come with the pre-certification for FCC, CE and IC. These substantially minimise the RF-know-how requirements, simplify integration of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth into the OEM customers' products, and reduce time-to-market and development cost, according to the company.
