Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd unleashes its end-to-end heterogeneous network (HetNet) solution and LTE technologies, which are said to be an MBB architecture made up of multi-layer networks that enable undifferentiated user experiences.

Huawei heterogeneous network (HetNet) solution and LTE technologies is set to reduce mobile broadband network (MBB) bottlenecks resulting from the large number of smart devices.

About 20 percent of sites carry more than 80 percent of MBB traffic that is expected to grow by more than 500x in the next decade. According to the company, HetNet uses modern technologies of multi-layer coordination, Inter-Cell Interference Coordination (eICIC) and Self Organising Network (SON) to improve the capacity of MBB networks up to five times.

Huawei claims that its LTE Micro base transceiver station (BTS) is easy to deploy without the need for site acquisition making HetNet possible. In addition, the LTE Micro BTS achieves full performance from LTE networks with features such as extreme data rate (DL 150Mbit/s, UL 50Mbit/s on 20MHz band, 2*2MIMO) and integrated SON (self-configuration, self-optimisation and self-maintenance).

Huawei's end-to-end SingleRAN LTE solution was also unveiled along with its component parts, including a SingleRAN LTE FDD/TDD solution, a SingleRAN WiMAX/LTE solution, SingleEPC, SingleOSS and other devices.

As of 2Q11, Huawei has deployed more than 130 SingleRAN networks that have the ability to evolve to LTE. About 40 operators involved in the deployments have either announced LTE launches or have committed to future conversions. According to the "Evolution to LTE" report released by the Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) in July, there are 24 active commercial LTE networks that have been launched globally and of these, 12 are using Huawei's end-to-end SingleRAN LTE solution.
