iWatt debuts its first power-factor-corrected (PFC) LED driver IC with primary-side-regulated, leading- and trailing-edge-dimmable, AC/DC digital PWM Controller designed for 120 V/230 VAC offline commercial and industrial LED lighting applications.

Similar to its predecessors, iW3602 and iW3612, the iW3614 (3W-15W) is intended for LED drivers utilised in space-constrained incandescent replacement lamps, enabling hot-plug support and flicker-free compatibility with existing wall dimmers, while incorporating qualities to ensure power efficiency, durability, as well as reduced size and component costs.

The iW3614 delivers a two-stage PFC scheme, on a single chip. A front-stage boost converter permits PF > 0.90 (typically 0.94), while the subsequent PWM driver stage minimises ripple current at the output.

iWatt's digital control, primary side control, quasi-resonant switching and high switching frequency synergistically perform to lower thermal loss, component count, driver size and BOM.
