Thailand has tapped Kyocera Corp.'s solar modules for its largest solar power project, "Solar Farms" which will provide electricity for about 170,000 Thai households through the Provincial Electricity Authority of Thailand (PEA).

The project aims to construct 6MW facilities at 34 sites in the northeastern part of the country, which will be using roughly one million solar modules from Kyocera Corp.

Since the introduction of a feed-in-tariff in 2007 the implementation of solar power has begun in earnest. Furthermore, the Thai Government has announced a plan to install 500MW of solar power by 2022.

"Kyocera is honoured to be able to contribute to meeting the renewable energy targets of Thailand," stated Kyocera Corporation vice president and general manager of the Corporate Solar Energy Group, Tatsumi Maeda.
