QuickLogic Corp. presents the Display Power Optimiser Technology which it boasts of reducing total system power consumption by up to 36 per cent resulting in longer battery life in handheld consumer devices such as smartphones and tablets. The results are field-proven and the battery life of these devices is extended by the same percentage.

Utilised in conjunction with the DPO Proven System Block (PSB), QuickLogic's Visual Enhancement Engine (VEE) technology greatly enhances the viewability of mobile device displays. VEE maximises video characteristics on a frame-by-frame, pixel-by-pixel basis to give the user with a natural viewing experience, even under the most challenging viewing conditions.

As part of the product development process, QuickLogic customers integrate CSSPs with VEE and DPO PSBs into their form-factor systems. DPO technology is then calibrated to the specific parameters of the OEM system. After the calibration, system power consumption measurements have shown that DPO technology has reduced the power consumption significantly in every system tested, of display size or type of device.

Actual data gathered from various OEM systems reflect that the display size for particular OEM end product all exhibited battery life improvement: Tablet with 7in display showed 36 per cent battery life improvement; Smartphone with 5in display showed 23 per cent battery life improvement; Tablet with 10.1in display gave 22 per cent improvement; Finally, a tablet with 8.9in displayed 17 per cent improvement.

Availability: QuickLogic's DPO technology is available today as component of the ArcticLink II VX2 and VX4 solution platform families.
