Express Logic Inc.'s ThreadX RTOS now offers support to CEVA Inc.'s CEVA-TeakLite-III DSP core targeting SoCs used in consumer, mobile, networking, and office automation applications.

ThreadX is a small-footprint RTOS offering real-time determinism that enables CEVA customers to support applications that demand high performance, low overhead, and fast time-to-market. DSP applications in general, and CEVA-TeakLite-III targeted ones in particular, demand super-fast real-time response and high levels of processing efficiency. The simplicity, low overhead, and low cost of ThreadX, including its royalty-free licensing, make it particularly attractive for high-volume DSP applications in consumer and mobile devices, office automation, medical equipment and networking.

CEVA-TeakLite-III is a third-generation DSP architecture based on the TeakLite family of DSP cores. It features native 32bit processing, including 32bit multiplier with 72bit accumulation for full data precision, as well as strong bit-manipulation capabilities for stream processing and 32bit FFT support to enable a highly efficient implementation of communication modems and audio codecs.

CEVA-TeakLite-III's 10-stage pipeline allows the DSP to support high-speed implementations, making it suitable as a single core for demanding wide-band voice and HD audio use-cases. The native 32bit architecture is backward compatible with previous members of the CEVA-TeakLite family and delivers high performance and low power for demanding applications such as 3G cellular handsets, High Definition (HD) audio, Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and portable audio devices.

ThreadX for CEVA-TeakLite-III is available in full source code form, royalty free, at licence prices starting at Rs.5,58,376.63 ($12,500).
