Three-axis accelerometer boasts high precision output

STMicroelectronics unveils the AIS328DQ, an automotive-grade, three-axis, low-g accelerometer that touts low power consumption, a small footprint, high precision and robust performance targeting automotive applications such as vehicle tracking, event recording, abuse monitoring, and dead-reckoning for enhanced navigation capabilities.

The AIS328DQ turns the motion and tilt information on three axes into a high-resolution digital signal that gets transmitted to a microcontroller through a standard SPI or I2C interface. ST said it offers "extremely accurate" output across user-selectable full-scale ranges of �2g / �4g / �8g, boasting excellent stability over time and temperature.

The AIS328DQ is qualified to AEC-Q100, a critical stress-test qualification for automotive integrated circuits established by the Automotive Electronics Council, and is robust and resistant to shock and electromagnetic interference.

Capable of operating within a temperature range of -40 to 105°C, the sensor can be used inside the cabin or inside modules with self-heating components. An embedded routine can be activated at any time to verify that the device is functioning properly.
