Telekom Brunei Berhad has awarded an exclusive contract to Huawei for building a national broadband network in Brunei.

Huawei has signed an agreement to provide an end-to-end turnkey services package that includes active and passive equipment, "holistic" Optical Distribution Network (ODN) network designs, and construction management.

The project, which will have four phases, is designed to provide some 40,000 subscribers with a full array of services, including voice, broadband, transport, and ISP services with data transfer rates of up to 150Mbit/s.

Telekom Brunei Berhad's Brunei Next Generation Broadband Network project, which will utilise Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Huawei's ODN technology, will address the growing demand for ultra broadband services such as high-speed Internet and high-definition TV, officials said.
