Radiometrix launches the GTC01, a self-contained GSM/GPRS platform designed to support the Cinterion M2M Evolution range of GSM modems.

The GTC01 offers a complete GSM/GPRS platform available in a plug-in module that contains a PIC-based, programmable 8bit Flash microcontroller watchdog; a SIM holder; RS232 compliant serial interconnections; and a set of easy to manipulate user interfaces. Any application that requires GSM connectivity can make use of the GTC01, which is fully compatible with the Quad-band Cinterion MC75i, TC65i and TC63i GSM modules, according to Radiometrix.

With the PIC-based watchdog IC providing auxiliary support to the 32bit ARM microcontroller in Cinterion units, controlled shutdowns and restarts are possible in case of a fault. The PIC is programmable using an in-circuit programming device to give customised external control of the GSM module or non GSM dependant outputs.

Radiometrix said that aside from SMS messaging, e-mail and voice, it also offers web connectivity through its TCP/IP stack and over-the-air reprogramming using Java functionality incorporated into the Cinterion TC65i unit.

The modules, available in a low 51x 84mm DIL format, run on +5VDC to +13.8VDC supply and draw a supply current of less than 40mA when inactive.
