High-voltage ICs cuts power losses in standby

Power Integrations offers the energy-efficient SENZero line of ICs that cut off sense resistors from high-voltage rails during standby or remote-off conditions.

During no-load or standby conditions, SENZero devices in PCs, TVs, and other high-power applications such as appliances, servers, networking equipment and laser printers disconnect from the DC high-voltage rail in Power Factor Correction (PFC) and/or power conversion stages of a power supply. SENZero can shut down the main power while remaining on standby mode.


Power Integrations product marketing manager Edward Ong said that when used in conjunction with the company's new CAPZero X capacitor discharge ICs, SENZero ICs "allow engineers to quickly adapt existing designs to reduce power consumption in standby mode and cost-effectively bring them into compliance with new regulations."

SENZero devices feature integrated 650V MOSFETs, high differential surge withstand, integrated gate drive and protection, and high SOURCE pin differential voltage withstand. They are available in an SOIC-8 package for Rs.13.15 ($0.28) each in bulk orders of 10,000 pieces.
