1.5A LED flash driver packs I²C-compatible interface
Keywords:LED driver power conversion
The ADP1650 features a programmable I2C-compatible interface, programmable torch and flash currents for one LED up to 1500mA, two independent TxMASK inputs and a 4-bit ADC. The inductive-based LED flash driver also provides high efficiency at 85 per cent at the typical battery voltage (90 per cent peak), which reduces high levels of input battery current during flash and limits battery current drain in torch mode. The ADP1650 measures 2mm × 1.5mm in a 12-ball WLCSP package and reduces PCB requirements.
The ADP1650 enables a complete high power flash design in less than 17mm2 by integrating a programmable 1.5MHz or 3.0MHz synchronous inductive boost converter, a tiny, 1mm high, low-cost, 1-µH power inductor, and an 0603 case-size input and output capacitor. The new LED driver operates efficiently over the entire battery voltage range by maximising the input-power-to-LED-power conversion and minimising battery current draw during flash events. The ADP1650 connects easily to the latest image sensors and image processors and is designed to operate using the limited battery current available for flash.
The ADP1650 is priced at Rs.44.36 ($0.95) each.
