From IEI Technology of Taiwan comes an all-in-one PC, iKarPC, with 8-inch touchscreen display in a single integrated unit, designed for in-vehicle applications. The in-vehicle PC is equipped with a CAN bus interface which gives users direct access to numerous vehicle data.

The iKarPC supports most protocols relevant for the data interchange between PC and vehicle, such as OSB-II, J1939 and FMS. This feature gives users access to vehicle control data such as speed, motor temperature or the like.

In addition, the computer sports a number of wireless protocols including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSUPA and GPS. Optional, the computer also can be supplied with a DVB-T receiver which turns it into a DTV receiver. The intelligent power management feature automatically shuts down the computer after the engine has been stopped. The computer is supplied with Windows XP Embedded.

For system integrators and applications developers, the vendor supplies a range of tools for the display of vehicle data on the screen and the integration of GPS functions. A software developers kit is included. With its operating temperature range (-20°C through +60°C as well as the anti-glare display brightness (600nits) and the operating voltage range (9 through 30 VDC) the computer is designed for in-vehicle applications.

The computer is available in Europe through ICP Deutschland (Reutlingen, Germany). For more information, please visit IEI.
