STMicroelectronics rolls out the DPIULC6-6DJL that provides essential protection for the sensitive DisplayPort circuitry against ESD that could damage or destroy the display device.

The device delivers enhanced protection for PCs, monitors, projectors and similar equipment featuring the latest DisplayPort interface. ST has optimised the protection to meet the different needs of the main and auxiliary data channels defined in the DisplayPort Vesa 1.1a standard. Moreover, although the protection device is capable of blocking hazardous voltage spikes, it is effectively transparent to the high-speed data signals and allows them to pass virtually undistorted at the highest possible speed and power to ensure consistent high-quality multimedia experiences for users.

The DPIULC6-6DJL features 5GHz bandwidth and 100Ω ±10 per cent characteristic impedance (100percent compatible with 100Ω differential layout). The device's capacitance defined according to Vesa 1.1a standard is less than 1.5pF with low capacitance variation of 0.05pF. The IC is pin-out optimised for easy PCB design and meets IEC 61000-4-2 level 4—15kV (air discharge) and 8kV (contact discharge). It also supports MIL STD 883G-Method 3015-7, class 3B 8kV human body model as well as VESA DisplayPort Standard Version 1.1a.

The DPIULC6-6DJL is available in a 5mm x 6mm leadless QFN package featuring 18 I/Os. Pricing starts at Rs.13.85 ($0.30) for orders more than 3,000 pieces.
