Flat wire tech power inductors lower DC resistance

Bourns Inc. rolls out two power inductors with advanced flat wire technology that enables lower DC resistance and higher current ratings in a tiny and compact package.

Bourns' power inductor design uses a flat wire within a moulded magnetically shielded housing that enables lower DC resistance and slightly higher current ratings compared to traditionally-used round wire. Designated the SRP4020 and SRP7030F, the new inductors are suited for use in DC/DC converters for mobile electronic devices and computers, as well as data storage and voltage regulator modules. Other applications that can benefit from Bourns' advanced power inductor design include servers, portable gaming devices, navigation systems, automotive electronics, medical equipment and more.

Bourns' SRP4020 features a very compact footprint of 4.8mm x 4mm in a 2mm height. The device has an inductance range of 0.22µH to 2.2µH, with a heat rating current up to 10A and a saturation current up to 15A. Model SRP7030F also offers a compact footprint of 7.6mm x 6.5mm in a 3.2mm height. The inductance range is 0.1µH to 10µH, with a heat rating current up to 32A and a saturation current up to 60A.

Pricing for the power inductors is Rs.31.40 ($0.68) each in 1,000 units.
