From NXP Semiconductors comes the GreenChip TEA1713 resonant half-bridge converter claimed to be the first resonant controller with integrated power factor correction (PFC), capacitive mode protection and adaptive deadtime control. These features ensure GreenChip benchmark robustness. The GreenChip TEA1713 resonant half-bridge converter complies with ENERGY STAR requirements, delivering 90+ per cent efficiency with only 50 per cent of the power loss of a typical flyback converter for higher power applications.
"Adapters and power supplies are becoming slimmer than ever, even for large TV displays and desktop computers, raising significant challenges for power supply designers," said Edwin Kluter, marketing director, power solutions business line, NXP. "By offering an integrated resonant controller with PFC, the GreenChip TEA1713 makes it straightforward for designers to build highly efficient compact power supplies for ultraflat notebook adapters, flat-panel displays and desktop PCs. NXP's strong heritage in high-performance mixed-signal applications, particularly lighting, has made it possible for us introduce innovations in processing resonant-type signals while offering maximum protection in a single integrated chip."
The GreenChip TEA1713 is an integrated resonant controller and power factor controller for universal mains supply operation (70V to 276Vac). The resonant half-bridge converter offers a unique combination of integrated features, including high-frequency protection (time out); over-current regulation with AC sensing; two-level over-current protection with boost voltage compensation; burst mode standby and two-speed soft-start mechanism.
