Keywords:Linux PDK i.MX35 configurations display configurations
This application note provides information, considerations and steps to add or adapt a new display panel to the BSP distribution for i.MX35 PDK. It provides details about general panel and generalities of display controller from the module. It also describes the development process to adapt a new panel to the board support package (BSP), taking into consideration the framework driver structure provided by the OS. This application note assumes that the reader is familiar with LTIB packages and Linux device driver concepts.
The i.MX35 multimedia processor supports many display types. The Image Processing Unit (IPU) handles the display devices. This module also controls graphic interfaces such as cameras and 2D graphics acceleration. All IPU sub-modules are connected using a private DMA interface (IDMA). The IDMA is used only for the IPU to transfer data between sub-modules and also between IPU and the external memory.
