Qutesys, a quality and test engineering company operating in ICT, has set up Qutelab, India's first end-to-end mobile value-added services (VAS) testing ground in Bangalore. Touting the lab as a first of its kind in the domestic market, Qutesys India CEO Thomass Jacob said, "Our focus on domestic market is growing rapidly in bringing on grounds our offerings to serve valued customers."

"Qutesys initiatives are a well thought out disciplined approach in incorporating automation tools designed to test real world experience on actual devices; sophisticated technical planning and management of appropriate resourcing is an effective architecture we follow," said Rajendra Menon, president Qutesys India.

Telecom is a core inevitable domain in this era of communication, delivering end-to-end modes for convergence, under highly sophisticated technological, market and business driven. With the commoditisation of voice, operators are increasingly looking towards VAS to boost their top-line growth and profitability; VAS unlike core services have unique characteristics and they are related to other services in a completely different way. VAS also provides benefits that core services cannot and has a certain time dimension associated with them. Subjectively, a VAS today becomes a basic service when it becomes sufficiently commonplace and widely deployed to no longer provide substantive differentiation on a relative basis.

Forward thinking mobile applications development companies and internal IT staffs already are deploying mobile VAS application testing with great success using extended Qutelab support. Qutelab enables broader test coverage, improved quality, faster testing and time to market & deployment, better use of staff and recued test costs. The critical success for mobile VAS test solution lies in speed to market as it is completely driven by the market trends and faster the applications reaching the market greater the business opportunity.

"From years of experience with clients in implementing mobile device test solutions we have seen it's very cumbersome to attend to the changing needs in this sector by just focusing on a manual testing; but even automated test solutions need to be following innovative platforms to address the same," said Jacob.

Menon said, "Revenues from mobile VAS are expected to reach over Rs.16,500 Crore in the year 2010. What will cause this sudden spurt in the revenue numbers is the introduction of advanced telecom services like 3G and IPTV services, But with proliferation of advanced handsets even in the semi-urban and rural areas, along with the fact that the subscribers have always been the youth with a penchant for music and gaming, telecom operators are finally looking to focus on alternate revenue streams as well. We at Qutesys realise beforehand and sets up Qutelab for thoroughly testing any mobile VAS products without expensive and permanent telecom product-lines installed".

"Clients making investments mapped to mobile VAS testing are paid back numerous times over in both short and long-term business returns after making engagement with Qutelab", said Sindhu Panicker chief governance officer, Qutesys India.
