NEC has launched two new high-power RF switches, theµPG2409T6X andµPG2409TB, available through California Eastern Laboratories (CEL).

Both are high power GaAs MMIC SPDT switches, which have been redesigned to reduce cost. Applications include WiMAX, Wi-Fi, automatic metre reading and other wireless systems that require high RF power handling, high isolation and low insertion loss. Both switches enable WiMAX mobile stations as well as Wi-Fi access points for 802.11a/b/g/n home and office networks. These switches are also intended for smart meters used for automatic metre reading and the new electric utility smart grid.

TheµPG2409T6X can operate from 0.05GHz to 6GHz, with low insertion loss of 0.45dB @ 2.5GHz, 0.65dB @ 6GHz and 0.55dB @ 3.8GHz and high isolation of 30dB @ 2.5GHz and 27dB @ 6GHz. TheµPG2409T6X is housed in a 6-pin plastic TSON package, and is suitable for high-density surface mounting.

TheµPG2409TB can operate from 0.5 to 3.8GHz, with low insertion loss of 0.45dB @ 2.5GHz and 0.60dB @ 3.8GHz and high isolation of 23dB @ 2.7GHz and 19dB @ 3.8GHz. It is housed in a 6 pin Super Mini Mould (SOT-363) package.

TheµPG2409T6X is Rs.22.47 ($0.46) and theµPG2409TB is Rs.20.52 ($0.42), both in quantities of 100,000.
