Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd and Emobile have launched Japan's first commercial HSPA+ mobile broadband network. The new 3G network covers Hokkaido, Sendai, Niigata, Hiroshima, Fukuoka and Nagasaki cities, and will provide mobile data speeds up to 21.6Mbps on the downlink.

Emobile subscribers can now perform high-speed Internet browsing, streaming media and VoIP. Huawei provided Emobile with its end-to-end solution including the advanced distributed base station and the D31HW HSPA+ data card.

"This is a significant milestone for Emobile, our network partner Huawei, and the Japanese telecommunications industry as it heralds the introduction of truly high-speed mobile broadband services that will substantially improve the user experience in Japan," said Eric Gan, representative director, president and chief operating officer of Emobile.

"Japan's first-ever commercial HSPA+ network is a platform that will deliver a world-class mobile broadband experience to Emobile's customers and advance Japan's telecommunications industry through our leading solutions in mobile broadband field and strong capability in delivery," said Yan Lida, managing director of Huawei, Japan. "We are very pleased to be part of this important development for Emobile."
